If you're interested in getting ripped off for a car service, then East Side Mitsubishi in Doncaster is the place for you! Here was my experience with them. My car was suffering an electrical problem where the battery was not charging up, so I thought I better get it serviced by the experts. But little did I know I would get indifferent service from the moment I arrived at 9:30 AM. I was told I could pick up my car at 4:00 PM, no problem. Got a phone call at approx 1:30 saying that I had over 10 things wrong with my car that needed replacing totalling over $2000. Things included a "Cracked Cam Shaft leaking oil" which is bloody surprising since there has never been an oil leak with this car, tightening the hand brake which actually became loose again within a week, and reconditioning of the alternator to charge the battery (which I had just replaced and he acknowledged it was a good strong one too) sounded plausible....... So we went ahead with the service thinking ok lets get it right. All this work took one extra day of service which is reasonable. Went to pay for the car, and the service man fills out the service registry with his birthday instead of the actual date of the service. Then the bill was actually $2100 instead of the agreed $2000 dollars, which I had to point out. So CHECK the bill.
Within 5 days of getting the car however, the battery practically went dead, so naturally I brought the car back to East Side. Unfortunately, it was mid Saturday that this happened, so the car had to be driven over the weekend. The lights in the dash board was going in and out whenever the indicator lights went on, so it was pretty low, but surprisingly the car was always able to start so some electricity must of got back to the battery......Anyway back to East Side. Imagine my surprise, after I had just explained my problem and the recent service, that they said it was probably my battery and asked for my billing details again. It makes you wonder if they did any fault finding in the first place since they acknowledged last time my battery was a good one. Also you would think that they would at least check out the problem first before getting ready to
charge me again. This was at 11:00 AM on the Monday. Got a phone call at
3:00 PM later that day saying they found a faulty "pulley" on the belt for the alternator saying it threw the belt off and damaged the alternator. They said they would cover the labour and damage but the pulley was going to cost $220 !!!!!. So we paid it thinking ok the part is new and they are covering their labour.... Anyway he told me it would be ready by 4:00 the following day. 4:00 the next day no phone call, so I call him, and was told they are still working on the car and that they'll need another day for one damn pulley !!!!!!!!!
Finally got the car back now, and it squeaks and has a scrapping sound whenever we drive it. In hind sight, how in the world does one pulley take two days to fix when they had previously serviced my car and supposedly fixed over ten faults in two days?????????? A loose pulley throwing off the alternator belt......... how could they have reconditioned the alternator without seeing this pulley throwing off the belt in the first place (you have to deattach and reattach the belt to remove the alternator)??????? Finally what the FUCK did they do to our car causing the squeaking and scrapping sounds??? Talked to our neighbour about my experience, he said he went through the same thing when he had a Mitsubishi a few years ago and went to East Side. They gave him a list too, but he was smart, he got the car back and serviced it himself, he only had to replace one part.
Look, I now know I got done, royally done! So all I can do now is to warn others of this cheating rats nest. Don't go to East Side Mitsubishi, and if you do, BE CAREFUL.
UPDATE
Just an update on the Eastside Mitsubishi review before moving on to other matters. This came totally out of the blue, so it was a complete surprise to me. The service manager had phoned me recently and offered to refund my second bill for fixing the alternator. He had said that he had only just had a chance to review the report on my service, and that he didn't feel it was appropriate for them to charge me again for the pulley part when they had originally reconditioned the alternator and found no other faulty part with the electrical system. Either way, he was true to his word and the refund arrived in the mail the next day. For me, this is the end of the matter. Thank-you for the suuport.
