When one is 6"4' (195cm) tall, one has to expect that one has decent sized feet in order to support oneself. So why have my goddamn feet grown another 2 shoe sizes in 4 years??????
I stumbled across a groovy looking pair of street shoes in Sportsco whilst browsing the hallowed halls of Greensborough shopping centre today. It's not often I buy shoes, in fact the last pair I bought were in 1998, when I bought 2 pairs of Fila boots for basketball.
Anyway, it appears that all the stock in size 13 has upped and walked out of the door sometime prior to my arrival.
[You need to understand that my shoe size alternates between a 12-13]
So I ask for a size 12 (who knows maybe they will fit); "Yep. We've got them" says the salesman, "but let me just check your foot size". So he pulls out the old foot measuring device.....
... and too my horror, my right foot is actually size 14 1/2 and my left is slightly smaller at a tiny size 14....
Something is very wrong here. 6 years ago the 10-up Doc Martens boots I bought were a loose fitting size 12. How can they possibly have grown another 2 sizes between ages 24 & 28?
The salesman actually thought the whole thing was rather funny [either that or my feet were letting off nitrous oxide ;-)], but he was kind enough to suggest I pop back in next week when they may have some more 13s in stock (the 13s do fit, it's just they were the wrong colour)
Maybe it's time I considered buying the boxes that shoes come in. At least I'll have plenty of wiggle room.....
