Last night was another Chinese New Year dinner thingy, same menu as the one we had on Sunday night, mostly the same people invited, although no Decay, and no S.O. of Alice ... I happened to arrive earlier than everyone, so I sat at the table by myself sending SMSes to Decay ... as you do ... (: The next people to arrive were some family friends ... who asked the obligatory how are you, what have you been up to, and noticed the ring ... so of course I did the mention that Decay and I recently got engaged ... only to find out they knew NOTHING about any of this, even though it's been just over 5 months since we announced things officially... and I know they've all seen each other a few times inbetween ... and it probably means that most of my extended family know nothing of this (which puts up a good argument for not inviting them to the wedding!) ... I'm not quite sure what's annoying me about this ... is it the fact that almost none of my family and family friends know that Decay and I are engaged? Or is it the fact that people are not saying things because they're worried about what *other people* might think that I'm not marrying a stereotypical Chinese boy with a Medicine/Law/Commerce/Engineering Degree ? Now, this couple were actually quite excited about the engagement, and they even remembered Decay from when they were at my 21st Birthday Celebrations ... it's more of a reaction than I've had from the family that know about it ... I guess I'm just a little disappointed that some of my family aren't as happy for me as I thought they might be ...
